We are a small local's shop at home in the mountains, staffed with
people who are passionate about bicycles. Mountain, road, cyclocross, or recreational
riding. It doesn't matter; we love bikes.
We live here, ride here, know every country road, every single track, and every
unfriendly dog in this county and are willing to share it with you.
At Dahlonega Wheelworks, we can fix your current bike, sell you a new ride, get
you or your kids going for the first time, equip you for your day out on the road
or help to point you in the right direction.
Of course, you are always welcome to stop by and meet us, hang out a while with
coffee, and get to know us. We want to be your bike shop, where you know people
that will take care of you and treat you like you should be treated.
The North Georgia Mountains surrounding Dahlonega are world famous for their beauty
and difficulty. The epic climbs up Brasstown Bald, Hogpen Gap, Wolfpen Gap, and
Woody's Gap have all been made famous by the Tour de Georgia, as well being the
routes for the City of Dahlonega's famous Six Gap Century. Bike riding in Lumpkin
County allows you to experience the roads, climbs, and conditions that face UCI
Pro Tour riders all within riding distance of Dahlonega Wheelworks' front door.
The mountain biking here is just as spectacular as the road. Bull and Jake Mountain,
ranked as a top ten trail system by Bicycling Magazine, are only minutes away from
the shop and of course we have trail maps and can recommend a ride for you.
The City of Dahlonega is surrounded by National Forest and if fire roads are your
thing, we can point you in the right direction.
Weekly rides leave from Dahlonega Wheelworks year round. Tuesday and Thursday nights
feature road rides during the daylight months, and nighttime mountain rides in the
winter, weather permitting. There is always a Saturday morning mountain ride and
Sundays usually have us going up in the gaps or on an epic dirt day.
Everyone is welcome to come along, all rides re-group, and you won't find any
"peloton attitude" while riding with us. Contact us ahead if you are coming from
out of town, and remember it is uphill both ways around here.
