Our Staff

Jon Dalman - El Jefe

An ex-patriate from California, Jon has settled into the North Georgia life with his wife, a professor at the local university, and their young son.

The direction of Dahlonega Wheelworks is driven by Jon's desire to make the customer happy with their purchase and experience in our shop. Jon's background in bicycles goes back to childhood with BMX and extends to today with riding every day and getting in the occasional race.

Jon's turn-ons include single track, Italian Road Bikes, and Miller High Life Beer Turn-offs are Tofu, road rash, and Wal Mart.

Jon's been wrenching his own bikes since a kid, and he's as picky as they come about quality, so you know your bike will be right when it leaves our shop.

Ray Heck - Peón

Ray grew up in North East Ohio, lived in Florida, North Carolina and recently relocated to Dahlonega with his wife Elaine. Ray's background has always included sports and outdoor activities. One of his favorite pastimes was skydiving. With more 1500 jumps he competed at the national level and was a free training instructor.

Being one who likes the experience of the "long haul," he geared himself towards endurance events. After running several marathons, he found the bike. Road or mountain, it didn't matter. Great friends, long rides, great scenery and a lot of time to think.

Ray is 1 of 12 who've completed the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race 10 times. He enjoys riding brevets, centuries and an occasional road or mountain bike race. Come to Wheelworks for a great ride, to talk bikes or just to hang out. Live to bike, bike to live.

Natasha Cowie

Tasha is blonde

She rides bikes sometimes

And likes to bake stuff

And knows the names of rocks and trees

Jim Motta

Originally from Rhode Island, Jim takes care of the in's and out's of the Wheelworks website and also shoots and edits all the videos you see on our site. Jim is an avid road rider and also rides XC on His off days. But if He had to pick one cycling discipline it would be road, hands down.

Some of Jim's likes are Sushi, movies from the 30s & 40s, Red Bull and Industrial music. Jim really hates rap music, chain stores, stupid people and flat tires.

Zack Rider

Wheelworks most eligible bachelor,Zack specializes in custom wheel builds for all bicycles. 20"to 29er, deep rim, shallow, 3x,radial lacing? Zach can do it!

Zach also has the most non-ironical moustache in all of cycling.

Tristan Cowie - Mecíanico extraordinario de la bicicleta

Tristan comes to the shop by the means of a misleading title on an eBay auction.

We thought we were bidding on a Surly Single Speed but the auction was actually for Tristan (a Surly Single Steed) placed up for auction by his sister for beer money.

The jury is still out on just how this works out. Keep checking his status for more details...

Mr. Shizzles

Mr. Shizzles is rarely seen at the shop, but is often the reason that you stop by. Hes been known to break your bicycle, dehydrate you, cause you to get lost and hungry. Mr. Shizzles purveyer of pain, dark simian of the apocalypse.

Steve M. - El Rápido

Steve has one philosophy and he says it often: "Racing is life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting..."

When asked about Mr. Shizzles, Steve took a drag off his Viceroy, exhaled a cloud of smoke, then he looked at me over his sunglasses and said, "Mr. Shizzles better worry about me getting in his head!"
